Mystery Marijuana Plane Lands in Houston

25 11 2011

Monday, November 20, at the Executive Airport in Houston, Texas, a small aircraft failed to answer calls from the control tower, leaving them in the fog…

After landing with the wind behind it, the small twin-engine plane skidded off the track ending up with its nose in the grass.

Cannabis smuggling plane

The plane that landed full of marijuana at Houston Executive Airport

The radio remained silent.

When the airport authorities arrived at the plane, it was empty. Well, almost empty since inside was 45kg of cannabis, which may explain why the plane ended its course well off the runway.

It wasn’t the weed holding the joystick, and any experienced pilot will tell you that only someone as high as a kite would make a landing like that – or a complete novice.

The authorities are still looking for an unidentified suspect, seen running away from the plane by some witnesses.

The aircraft was recently sold at auction after the death of the previous owner, and since then has not been officially re-registered. Investigators hope to track the new owner with the help of the previous owner’s relatives.

Hundreds of “pot plant” seized were Horse Mint

29 06 2010

Texas Police Eradicate Patch of (Real) Weeds

Horse mint looks really similar to pot, doesn't it?

We’re not sure if this story from the never-ending War On (Certain) Drugs makes us want to laugh to or cry.

“What was first thought to be one of the largest marijuana seizures in the Corpus Christi, Texas Police Department’s history turned into an embarrassing incident for the cops, as the clueless officers spent a busy and exciting evening harvesting hundreds of horse mint plants from a city park.”

After a teenager riding his bike through the park reported what he thought might be cannabis:

“Police then hauled away 300 to 400 medium-sized plants that they, too, believed were marijuana.

Exhausted officers only stopped collecting the harmless plants because it got too dark to work; they planned to return bright and early in the morning to look around for more marijuana.

Trouble is, after spending more than an hour laboriously removing and tagging hundreds of plants, and then hauling it all to the police department downtown, testing revealed that none of it was marijuana at all. It was just a fairly common type of weed known as horse mint.”

In many ways, this story is no more ridiculous than the ongoing effort to stop people growing cannabis, and funny because at least no-one had their lives ruined because they grew a plant. Better that the cops in question spent an afternoon gardening instead of harassing smokers and growers.

On the other hand, as a commenter on original the article points out “The residents of Corpus [Christi] and Nueces County should seriously be concerned with how their tax dollars are spent. This is the same police department that serves, protects and investigates you.”

Cannabis Ebonics – Stoner Terms

29 10 2009

We found this list of stoner terms online and thought we’d share them.  Some of the terms are more frequently used in America however most (if not all) have made their way into the international stoner vocabulary.  We also dug up a classic clip of Ali G listing other stoner terms:

April 20th (4/20) – International Cannabis Day, everyone blazes on this day. Everyone blazes at 4:20 every day too.

Blaze – To get high!

Blunt – Either a hollowed out cigar filled with marijuana or (more commonly) a “marijuana cigarette” rolled with a blunt wrap (tobacco paper or emptied cigar).

Bowl – Can refer either to the part of a piece that holds cannabis, or to the pipe itself.

Bogart – The act of holding on to a joint/piece/blunt for too long, or one who does such an act: “Don’t bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me”.

Boo – A street name for marijuana, listed only in anti-drug literature. No one has ever heard or used it. If you are ever arrested for possession, you should use this term, saving the taxpayers the expense of correcting and reprinting anti-pot pamphlets.

Kick-Hole / Carb – The hole on the side of a piece used to regulate air flow. Hold it closed with your thumb while inhaling to draw smoke into the chamber, then release to let air in and force the smoke into your lungs. Also called a “rush hole”.

Cherry – The red burning coal of marijuana in a joint or bowl.

Chillum – A pipe with the bowl in line with the stem.

Ganja – Just 1 of many synonyms for cannabis, others include  Dope, Marijuana, Grass, Draw, Puff, Blow, Weed, Gear, Ganja, Herb, Wacky Baccy, Skunk, Pot, Bob Hope and Bob – see the Ali G video below for many more :)

Hashish / Hash – The resin secreted by a marijuana plant. Different kinds of hash are prepared with a variety of recipes.

Hash oil – A liquid extracted from marijuana. Use mostly by dipping smokeables into the hash oil.

Hit – A drag or puff cannabis.

Hot Box / White wall – Getting high in a car or small space with no ventilation so that you are constantly inhaling atmospheric smoke.

Joint / Zut / Doob / Doobie – Marijuana cigarette. Kind Bud (chronic, hydro, sticky icky, highs) – High potency Cannabis.

Mids – Descent cannabis for the money you pay for it, if you don’t have a lot of money this is the best way to go.

Moocher – Someone who will smoke your bud in a second, but never has any of their own.

Papers / Skins – Cigarette papers used for rolling joints.

Piece – Refers to a pipe of one sort or another.

Resin – Black tar like stuff that builds up in smoking apparatuses.

Schwag – Low grade cannabis or the leftovers from the bottom of a big bag.

Stiletto Stoners

9 10 2009

We are happy to see that more and more people are realizing that smoking weed is not just for the typical Hollywood stereotype “lazy stoner” or the terminally ill cancer patient. Normal career minded people smoke cannabis too. Most people that smoke weed do it to relax after a day of hard work. Have a look at the video below that is part of NBC’s “today’s women” – It’s really worth watching to the end, for once the “experts” seem to be talking sense on prime-time US television!

Cooking with Cannabis

29 01 2009

cooking-with-marijuanaAs you might know next to smoking weed you can also eat it. Eating weed can get you even more stoned then by smoking it and it is presumably more healthy for you. We are not talking about the standard hash brownies and the like as these are probably not that healthy (but they sure do taste good :) and they are a bit standard.

What you might not know is that weed seeds (hemp seeds) are very, very healthy for you and will not get you stoned. Be sure to buy hemp seeds if you want to cook with them, because they are way cheaper then proper cannabis seeds.

This site has a few delicious recipes for cooking with hemp seeds. We’ve selected two of them that look really nice and healthy.

FALAFEL GOODFORYA

* 2 Cups fresh ground hempseeds
* 1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
* 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
* 1 Tbsp minced garlic
* 2 Tbsp chopped parsley
* 1/4 cup good olive oil
* 1 beaten egg (optional)
* water (1-3 Tbsp)
* flour, salt, pepper
* Louisiana Hot Sauce
* oil for frying

Mix hemp seeds with peppers, onion, garlic, parsley and toss in olive oil. Add hot sauce to taste. Add egg and/or water until mixture is wet enough to shape into balls. Squeeze together. The egg may keep mixture together better but is not necessary. Roll in flour with salt and pepper to taste. Heat 2 Tbsp oil in heavy skillet over medium heat. Gently brown hempseed balls on all sides for 8 to ten minutes. Serve alone with dip, or in pita pockets with garlic yogurt sauce and a little sliced onion, cucumber, lettuce.

SILVIA’S HEMP SEED TREATS

* 1 tbsp water
* 1/8 cup maple syrup
* 1/2 cup brown rice syrup
* 1 cup hemp seeds
* 1 cup sesame seeds
* 1 cup sunflower seeds
* 1/4 cup chopped cashew nuts

Use a double boiler. In top pot mix first three ingredients until sucanat has dissolved Add brown rice syrup, seeds and nuts Mix well until seeds are coated with sweetener Pour into baking pan and press flat Refrigerate overnight Cut into squares before serving.

This movie was never intended to be funny, but more then 70 years after it was made it looks more like a slapstick then a serious movie. The lives of all who are involved with this menace are inevitably shattered. One man becomes so addicted to the killer weed that the guilt over framing a teen for murder causes a judge to order him to be committed for life to a mental hospital!

10. Popeye – Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp (1939)

Popeye is one of the world’s most well-known and beloved animated characters. Since his creation, the pipe-puffing Popeye has become a global phenomenon, with millions of kids heartily munching on spinach in the hopes that it will make them as strong as the legendary sailor-man. Yet is the spinach which gives Popeye his super-strength really a metaphor for another magical herb? Have children around the world been adoring a hero who is really a heavy consumer of the forbidden weed ?

Guerilla growing with the Dutch government

10 09 2008

As you might know the Dutch parlement building has somewhat of a garden. They even have a nice pond (also known as the hofvijver) with an little island in the middle.

You also may have heard about how the Dutch government has been increasingly hostile towards cannabis  over the past years.

These facts inspired a few creative minds and they decided it was time to plant some cannabis on the above mentioned island using a blowpipe and an abundance of cannabis seeds. :)

Have a look at the video Chris Pieplenbosch put on his youtube channel.
